I am now the proud owner of my mate's old parts hauler. It's a 1996 Holden Commodore VS 3.8L Ecotec V6, with some very very nice modifications (and a few more done in the few days I've owned it too! )

This must be one of the most well traveled cars in the world!! The guy who imported her, drove her back from Australia!!

Strangely enough, she's got some gender issues, and called Bruce for obvious reasons! :lol

She's not on the roads yet, as she has no MOT or tax, and no exhaust either, but all of that is getting sorted and she should be raring to go real soon :)

Here are some pictures of her progression over the years.

How she was originally:

After a bit of a hit with the old lowering stick - looking better eh?

After some matt black paint:

As she sits now:

First modification - leather front seats out of a Vauxhall Senator:

I've also fitted some JBL 6" 3-way coaxials into the front doors too. Pain in the ass to take the door cards off, and I'll have the fun of changing the stereo over too at some point! Eeep!!!! Center console job out that is!

She'll certainly be a very nice, tasty piece of kit :D

Those seats are buttery. I need leather seats in my life, dub seats are entirely too flimsy for me. Good work thus far!

Yea, got a set of leathers for the rear too, but they're from a Senator sedan, same one that the fronts came out of, but I don't think they're gonna fit so easily, so got some other plans for them ;)

I am currently debating between a red metal flake roof or a red lace paint roof though. I think with the matt black and slam, the metal flake would look better :)

I've done a head unit in a few of these. A VS, and 2 VPs. So many screws it's just over the top.
Good luck with the project. You'll be up for big freight bills if you need bits!

I'll leave you some inspiration in you guess the car thread as not to clutter up this one.

Cheers

Nice inspiration there man, cheers!

Yea, I lost track of how many screws I took out when removing the door cards. Worrying thing was I had 3 screws left over when I was doing the passenger side, but I used 2 of the excess screws when putting the driver's side back on?? :lol

I already have a load of bits for it. Got a spare windshield, spare disc brakes, spare all sorts!!! The guy who imported it loaded it up with as many spares as he could get, and drove from oz to here!!!! Yes, he DROVE!!! From Oz, through Asia and Europe to the UK with it loaded up with spares! :eek

Luckily thought there are Vauxhalls over here which are similar enough to it to scavenge parts from, like the front seats out the Vauxhall Senator :D

Yea, this will be on the roads again soon, just need to get the exhaust made up, then take it for MOT and tax it :) Be a good daily driver, nice n economical, comfortable, and it's got cruise control too :D

3.8L actually, but yes, it is economical. Can get 30mpg easily out of it, 40mpg on a motorway run :)

And here's a recording of it running on open headers earlier :D

I kinda need to add the rest of the exhaust system to it :lol It's got open headers at the moment just stopping at the downpipe, just before where the cat was.

Did this photoshop too :D

Or maybe like this?

Tried one with a red roof, but it just didn't look right I don't think.

Got this one as well, with the roof slats done red as well :)

Cheers :tu

Yea, I'm digging the last one the most personally, and I reckon that's the way I'm gonna do it. Keep it looking nice n simple but with a bit of attention to detail. Then add some red pinstripe or airbrushing to it too. I'll probably opt for the red airbrushing on the hood and the sides below the stripes on the doors :tu

That's cool mate, cheers :tu

Definitely helped me with deciding on keeping the alloys though after seeing the steelies looking so small like that! Does look awesome though still, but I think it's the alloys still for me really :) Awesome work though, cheers :tu

Cheers mate :D Yea, I do love the wheels. I think in red, with the stripes on the sides, the roof slats and some red pinstriping and airbrushing, it'd look spot on :D

Well after working on it the other day, she's now had a service, got half the exhaust made up ready for going on, and taken the old stereo out ready for my stereo to go in :) Absolute pain in the ass to do though, had to take half the dash out as my mates had a freeview box set up in it before which was behind the dash!

Also decided to run her up on open headers, and she sounded like a proper gasser / drag rod. The audio clip isn't the greatest but gives an idea :D Bear in mind though, she hasn't been run in a long time, so a bit rough around the edges still

Clicky here to hear

Since writing this on another forum, she's now got about 85% the exhaust made up :D

sorry to get my sensible head on (and sorry if i am wrong/teaching granny how to suck eggs_) but...

i assume the wheels are mercedes and therefore 5x112 fitment and assume the holden is 5x110 Are you running variance bolts or just standard? if standard then they will be bending everso slightly and could snap. i know a few people who used to fit vauxhall wheels to vw campers (5x112) and they had studs snapping every now and again
