Well back near the start of this year, I bough a Volvo 850 T5 station wagon, and I've been totally loving driving it, but there's just been something missing, and I've worked out what that is now - the rat edge :D

My plans are fairly simple for her - get her to peak mechanical perfection, then sort out about the aesthetics. Looks wise, I'm wanting to matt black her (seen some good bulk buys on eBay (will be crap, I know, but on a rat it doesn't matter really does it? I'm also wanting to drop her on a set of banded steelies, and even get a front nudge bar sorted out (never seen that on another Volvo!). Would love to have a rusted hood too with a hole cut in it for the air intake, just for practicality :D

So here she is at the moment. At last dyno, she was running 227.7hp and 276ft-lb torque, and that was with bad plugs n leads on there and 95 ron fuel in the tank, so hopefully she'll be doing even better soon!!! My aim is 280hp, maybe more!!!

The wagon:

The 5 cylinders of turbo goodness:

Subs :D Always good eh?

My steering wheel from the days of the ludes :D

I also love my sounds too, so I've started doing some work on an audio install in the wagon - work so far :D

Front Doors - 5.25" Alpines and 6.5" Infinitys

Dash - 4" Infinitys

Rear Doors - 6.5" Alpine

Trunk - 2x 10" Kicker L5 subs on a Vibe Blackbox Bass4 amp (and FYI, yes, I can ride the unicycle lol)

Unicycle!
Sounds like a bit of a sleeper so far, quick off the mark or is it a tad on the heavy side?
Looking forward to seeing it play out :tu

Ditch, it's fekkin fast!! At the moment she's hitting 60 in about 6.5s, and getting some one off custom HT leads made up for her which will be going in tomorrow (fingers crossed) and getting some performance plugs too, so that'll hopefully all help drop it down a bit more too.

Sophers, yea, can't beat a good Volvo can ya? :D lol Swedepower FTW!

And yea, I can ride the unicycle, always gets great looks! Couple of you guys had bikes on your roof racks at TFS, I have a unicycle :D (you'll soon start to see why I'm called Crazy  )

427 - I wish I could afford a hearse, but just too much out of my price range, but I think a ratted hearse would be extremely cool and is my plan one day, to rat rod a 50s Cadillac hearse

Adam & Norb, the sound system is going to be getting a rework at some point, with more speakers going in, and possibly some more powerful subs too. Dunno if you've heard of the Iceman with his Astra van, but he's a mate the audio install in his van is part of my inspiration for sound system :D

Oh, as for stickers, yea, I love them!! My old Honda Prelude was covered in them hahaaa

Do you need to worry about practicality? If not why not strip it out and get some free horsepower?

Tidy looking Lolvo dude and with the 5 cyl turbo, defo shifts :D

Great set up of audio too. Imo, I'd try and step away from the Matt Black. It will look cool almost murdered out, but so many people do it. But, its your car and I'm sure it'll look cool whatever you do :tu

I do take people in the back of it every so often otherwise it would have been stripped out by now LOL With the back seats though I can fold them down flat and I can camp in the back if I move the sub box that is :D

I was thinking either do it all matt black, like properly keying the existing paint job and everything like that to get a good finish, or I was thinking about spraying it with some matt black and some grey too and give it a sorta camo style paint job.

Looking at a couple of sets of steel wheels on eBay for her at the moment which I'll want to get banded by 2 or 3 inches :D

Well I got the steelies today for her, just put them on to see how the fitment was and I'm actually liking the look of them unbanded (am I allowed to say that on here? :lol )

They're really filthy, the nuts stick out like mad, and I love the look of it :D Will get some better pics in the day when I get to work tomorrow but here's some quick pics now.

Cheers Sophers :D I was gonna band them, but I think I'll leave them as they are. Save some money cos to be honest, I'm not too far off being bankrupt :( Between my bank account and 2 credit cards, I owe £5500!!!!!!!!!!

When I get paid, I can get the paint, and I'll see about getting the orbital sander tomorrow in my lunch break so I can start sanding all that horrid horrid paint off the hood and keying the paintwork too in preparation :D

Well I've done the hood now, it's all down to the bare metal and I am debating on if I should laquer it like it is or let it rust? I am thinking rust will look more rat, and not dazzle other drivers when we do get sun, but it is getting some good looks driving round with the hood like this :D

Cheers mate :D

Yea, a mate of mine suggested to put some stickers on it that say CRAZY to stop that bit from rusting and then let the rest of it rust. Quite like the idea of that :D

Just need to get the vinyls for doing that now

Cheers dude, yea, wasn't sure about sanding down the bit around the grill, but I did it anyways and really pleased with the look, reckon it'll look sweet as too when it's all rusty :D

Yea, I'm gonna put some salt on it tonight and some more tomorrow when I'm at work. Gonna get a spray bottle and fill it with salt water to put on there :D
