A few observant ones of you may have noticed that my signature on here has changed. That's because, as you may have guessed, I have a new car. It's a 1988 Honda Aerodeck 8-) It's an absolute minter, and totally loving it!

It's got the A20A4 engine in it (2 litre, 12V without cat), manual, and 92k on the clock!

And NO, it won't be getting ratted out, it is going to be a true classic, have a few choice touches done on it, and will be a total beauty when she's done.

It's going to be called "Marvin" as it just reminds me of Marvin the paranoid android.

It's very clean, and I've already started playing with it. Got some nice speakers in the rear, waiting for the speakers to arrive to go in the front, got my stereo in, and I've done a short ram air intake as the original intake is about 4 foot long!

Oh, and it has this sticker on the driver's side wing on the top!!!!

Had to do the obligatory night time shots with the pop up lights :)

New component speakers are in the front doors. JBL GTO 508C, and they sound amazing!!!

And of course, I had to upgrade the factory horn just a bit!!

For the year, it is in great condition :) Even under the hood.

A lot of character. You may want to makeshift a heat shield for the K&N filter depending on how hot it gets under there.

It was only made for 3 years (86-89) and only released in Europe and Japan, though it's unusual in that most were released in Europe. There's only 100 left in the uk, and only 13 of this spec left (top spec in manual)

It's going to be put on some 17s, get a trunk build and a drop. Will get tinted windows too and that'll probably be it. It might get a respray in a few years in gloss black but that's in a whiles time.

Been playing again today, and got some bass in there now! 12" JBL power series sub and a JBL GTO 1004 amp bridged to 3 channels to power the sub and the components up front.

Hey Crazy.
If yo are going to buy some 17s, will you sell me the existing wheels, tyres and trims complete? I've got a white Aerodeck auto of the same age. Mine is "just out the box" with only 55 thousand on it.

Laurie, you have a private message. Call me.

Got my new wheels on there today too. Love the look of them. 17" BK 299s :D Really needs lowering now though, probably 30 on the rear and 50 on the front.

I've had a play with Photoshop, and had a few ideas, and this is what I've come up with for next on the list of modifications - lowering it and refurbing the alloys to match the car.

As it sits now:

Well I've been busy today and dropped it. Coil over kit on the front, and 3 coils chopped out the rear, and this is the result!

And it got some really nice camber on the front end too!!

Heaps better!
Personally I'd keep the alloys silver, it works so well!

Cheers, yea, the silver does work well, but I just think the colour coding would just set it off that little bit better. Will have to see though eh?

Thought I'd do a bit of fingering action to show how low the car sits at the moment. Bear in mind, I could fit my whole hand in there before with room to spare!!!

sorry, can't ignore the comment at the end :gheyer

Looks and sounds cool. what else? de-badge the rear?

Post subject:  Re: 1988 Honda Accord Aerodeck EXI - "Marvin"

Hahaa, ah well, gotta give my mate credit though for saying that without me hearing :lol

Nah, I'm not going to debadge it, I love the old skool 4w-ALB badge!! I'm going to put some side skirts on it, make my own rear lip, and make a deeper front lip too for it. Going to colour code the wheels as well.

I've done a bit more work today, built, trimmed and fitted the side panels for the trunk build, and really happy with the final result :D

Great looking car Cazy-C. 'Course, you will have trouble getting your Tesco's shopping bags in there, with that giant speaker living in the back!

very nicely done 'deck.

My dad had the exact model in silver... and prompted my fondness of Honda.

This car had everything ! pop ups full electrics, cruise control sunroof.

I'm out to get one in a few years. Maybe a jap model (with a swapped VTEC engine would be nice!)

its going to be a future classic!

how many miles and how much you pick marv up for?!
