Here's my daily driver.
I've had it 3 months and in that time I've made a start restoring it from this

to this

I was quite pleased with my efforts until I saw these at a local car show

So since then, I've cut a coil off the front springs and made myself a side exhaust.

My goal being something like this photoshop effort

Any comments welcome

Brilliant project :chill
You've done a great job so far and if it looks anything like the photoshop when it's finished it'll look great :tu
( I reckon the wheels would look cool painted the same colour as the seats though , with the chrome rings and hubcaps and some whitewalls :drool )

Thanks guys.

Yeah that red oxide one made my jaw drop. It's got blood on it's teeth! Really cool owner too and very helpful.

Made a start removing the rear axle today (in the rain!). I'm going to mount it on top of the leaf springs (like my Morris) and I'll get an instant 3" drop. Then I'll revisit the front to level it up. Well, that's the plan. Looking good so far. :)

It's a good plan, but that's what my matey with the flamed front has done and I think I'll have to do something different. hmmmmmmmm

I quite like the Rover Sandal wood beige colour, would be different
for the wheels and would look kool if you went for a dark paint scheme :tu

I get asked this alot. You don't see alot of them over here anymore either. This (and the red oxide one) are Standard 10s, mines a Standard 8. Same body, different size engines.

The Standard Motor Company bought Triumph in the late fifties(?) and then basically dropped the Standard name and became Triumph. This car was replaced by the Triumph Herald and shares a number of components.

One unusual feature of the Standard 8 (and some early 10s) is that there's no bootlid! :eek It was an option. I can gain access by folding down the rear seats.

I don't intend to paint it as the original paint is ageing quite nicely. There's surface rust coming through on the roof and other places. I've just rattle canned over the parts that were primered. Beige wheels...... hmmmmm could be cool.

Thanks guys.

Took another half a coil off the front this morning and now I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Looks near enough like my photoshop effort. :)

Hmmmm maybe a couple of old stickers in the windows?
or some old metal badges like the one you have on the front.

Not too sure really depends how far you want to go with it :tu

cool ride looks really good lowerd,i've always been a fan of the slightly obscure classics like standards.just needs some period fluffy lepord/tiger print seat covers.

Not yet. 803cc is plenty. :eek Though I am considering a 1500 MG/Spitfire engine as it's virtually a straight swap.

I'll be leaving my thirties in 18 minutes and starting my forties! yikes!

Thanks. Maybe I should act a little more grown up now.....

These cars are really rare. I don't think I've ever seen one on the road (except mine :rolleyes )

My lad said this morning that it looks like Doc Hudson off that Cars film. I thought that was cool!! :D
