Here is my 1994 BMW E30 318i Lux Touring and i have decided to rat look it. At the moment I'm to young to drive and its just sitting in my gararge so i wanted to do somthing fun with it, i've always like rat cars since i found out about them.

You live near the sea, right? Pop your head out and have a look tomorrow morning and with a bit of luck (and rain) you'll have a few promising patches already. (Assuming you've taken all the galv off that is)

Not even left school yet and you already own a BMW are you a drug dealer :rofl

On a serious not good luck with the project you got a big car to work on there - If it was me though Id of left the raised middle bit alone and just rusted the left and right bits to be a bit different :ghey

How are you lowering it? Coilovers, uprated springs or cut coils?

Bloody hell - a 318 Touring as your first car?! Good luck getting insured on that...
I'm 20, have over 3 years driving experience, a years NCB and i'm lucky to get under £800 on my 320 Touring.

ha i was going to leave the middle like you said but a little spilage of nitromores right in the middle of it didn't help. And just on some cheap and chearful lowering springs from eBay, might cut a few coils out if its not low enough though

*Jaw drops*

Only £650? You lucky SOB.
eBay has a shock/spring kit for E30 Tourings for about £150, and some Jamex ones for £200. I'd probably go for shocks and springs rather than just springs, bearing in mind the suspension has been wearing away for going on 20 years now. It might be a bigger expense up front, but at least you won't be ruining shocks every few k's on the clock!

lovely looking example dude! I still have the luggage cover and headrests ofmy old E30 touring somewhere.

When I first passed my test at 17 I had a 86' E30 318i. Bout 7 years ago now. i cant remember what i payed overall for insurance but my deposit was around £700 ish and my direct debit every month was £331 3rd party. It was the cheapest i could get for the 1st year or so. My full time job all went on fuel and insurance.
(better tha Norwich Unions £9000 quote)

It wasn't cheap but having a BMW as my 1st propper car was probably the best decision I ever made!

I'll be interested to see how well it rusts. wanna try and rust an E34 that hopefully i should have in about 6 weeks or so.

ha i got a quote of £64000 or something stupid from somewhere and started to get worried that buying this of my brother for £600 wasn't such a good idea after all, but if i can get it insured for 650 i'll be sorted.

hate to pop your bubble but you might find that the insurance quotes will be much higher when you pass your test because at the min they are quoting you as a learner driver mate

Legendary :lol
Looks good so far, just purely wondering, I don't get why people strip the rears out of a 5 door/estate unless they are looking for a wieght advantage, seems to defet the point of having one. I'm most likely missing the obvious though, I'm a bit slow :insanity

i had a chat with a guy from a BMW specialist, he drifted his e30 touring, had a 2.5 lump in it and he chucked the back seats out suppose it will be lighter on the rear sooooo more arse happy! (no wait that sounds wrong ??)
