Hello all. I've recently begun work on ratting my car out and thought I'd sign up.

This was what it looked like before.

On the surface, everything looked shiny and nice, but I discovered a lot of rust covering several areas of the car and it wouldn't have survived another bad winter without treatment and re-painting. I decided that a professional re-spray was far too expensive for such an old car with 139k on the clock... so out came the rollers. Yes, I said rollers :D

Here is what it looks like at the moment, with the paint "worn in" and a few additions.

Lots and lots to do, including:
- New sump
- New induction kit
- New BOV
- New 'zaust
- Wheel re-furb
- Remove strobe lights and repair bump strips
- Additional lighting (scene / work lights)
- Extra electricals, including CB radio
- ...and much more

I'll update with any progress :smash

I can see why you were gonna go black and white. Perfect car for it, but it does look awesome like this :) What is the look you are going for with "Additional lighting (scene / work lights) - Extra electricals, including CB radio"? I find that info enticing and exciting :) Gonna be watching this one.

Was this actually a safety car? What races? lol.

Oh in case you haven't already found somewhere for your CB I would recommend Thunderpole.co.uk. They specialise is CB equipment. That's where I am getting my new antenna and adaptor plug so I can use it for FM radio :) Take a look, it's well worth it lol.

Or you could attach the CB antenna to a CB :)

I've already got a CB radio & antenna from my previous car. Just need to work out how to wire it in, then it's all good to go!

I haven't updated this in a while, but I've done some tinkering:

Spoiler:

A completely unplanned update: I've been having a clearout and I found this!

Completely forgot I had it - took it off the car and threw it to the back of the garage. Not the best WRC spoiler available, but I thought it might look a bit better on the Punisher car...

Looked alright, so decided to paint it.

Sitting in the garage drying off after 2 full coats of paint.

Dried and fitted - I've gone over a few bits whilst it's on the car, hence you can see some smearing (wet / dry contrast). Not a perfect fit and I'll have to re-drill some holes, but leaving it on to "weather" and lose its shine.

Overall I'm pleased. I think it would look awesome with louvres on the rear window - I just need to find a supplier / fitter.

Calipers:

Small job: I've finally got rid of the last bit of colour. The car is now 99.9% Murdered Out B) (just need tints on the windows)

Before:

After:

And then someone tried to re-add some colour back to the car :lol

The paint is actually matte black, but will need a week or so to flatten out, like the rest of the paintwork. It was also a good excuse to swap the tyres around, just in time for winter.

Front Bumper Louvres:

Bought some more metal to add to my metal :smash

I decided to paint them the same colour as the wheels so the black is broken up a little (plus it makes them stick out a little more). I'm not putting lacquer on them though - that way they will weather a bit and fit in with the whole ratty theme.

So, front bumper ripped off - I measured up where they were going to sit and drilled some holes in the bumper - little holes for the nearside and bigger holes for the offside (because of SMIC). Then after a test fit they were Tiger Sealed and bolted on.

First holes:

Test fit:

Little holes for nearside:

Big holes for offside (SMIC):

Tiger'd:

Fitted:

The holes are perfectly covered by the metal, so no foreign objects should be getting in:

Front bumper back on:

And an overall look at the car:

Next on the list - addition of "pirate gear," armour plating and more louvres!

Looks good. Oh, and I posted this on another thread, but I have made louvers before, it is relatively simple.

^ I popped a bunch of those off of old civic hatches in a junkyard for $5 a piece and attached them to two strips of thin pliable lexan. Painted It all with plastic primer, then black overcoat. it turned out pretty nice. I don't have any pics though, they were on my old comp. Hope it helps.

Cheers beatle - and thanks for the info josh :)

Another update - stencil time:

Ignore the shiny black paint, that's a new coat that will matte-out after a week or so:

Then it was onto a new addition:

I really, REALLY hope a cop car pulls up behind me :halo

I might buy some fake blood to drip all over it!

...and I've finalised my badges for front & rear, plus centre caps :devil

Thanks guys. Rustntank - VHT nightshades?

Postman arrived! :drool

I've never been a fan of bonnet bras, but this has converted me - the fact it blends in with the rest of the paintwork makes it even more awesome :aviator

I know some won't like it (very Marmite) but I think it adds to my pirate theme brilliantly.

I do like bonnet bra's but they only suit certain cars. I've gotta admit I do like them better on black cars... even more so on rat black :tu

As I've said before, I think they look awesome on full rust bonnets :tu (And its no secret that im not a fan of full rust bonnets) :lol
